September 2024 - Lualemba Bungalow Resort - Monthly Newsletter

Hi Guys and Gals.

September 2024 news letter is super super late and there is a lot of catching up to do. At Lualemba Bungalow Resort there has been so much going on with guests having a heap of fun. Te Aila being remast and brand new sails throughout she is now a mean machine on the water as for Wharrams go. We’ve been maintaining and improving Lualemba Bungalow Resort to be better than ever. The surf during September was pretty good during the beginning of the month and slowly got smaller as the month went on but there were always fun waves around. Enjoy September newsletter and check out our website as it has been improved especially for mobile phones. Enjoy!!

Tunggoen has several waves but with little consistency. This area of the west coast picks up more swell than anywhere else on Rote island. So it has an advantage during small swell periods.

Slotting in and coming back out at Ndana Island

During September the Rote adventures didn’t stop with Te Aila still making trips to Ndana island without a mast it was motor away. When at Ndana island there were some epic waves. I’ll let the photos below do the talking.

Te Aila gets a new mast and rigging

With a well thought out plan we managed to put the mast back on Te Aila while it was on Nemberala beach. Usually such a task is done by crane but there is no such equipment available on Rote island. By tying long lengths of bamboo past the halfway section of the mast and the assistance of a few curious guests and quite a few locals from Nemberala it was steadily erected with the rigging put into place. All went very well and during the end of September Jenet and I went to Singapore for a couple of days then caught the ferry to Batam a island of Indonesia to pick up a new full set of sail for Te Aila. Zoom sails in Sri Lanka did a wonderful job making them and I have never known Te Aila to be such a sailing machine on the water.

Tland certainly had some fun size waves during September.

Tland was producing great waves again during September with one outstanding surfer from Newcastle absolutely on fire and hey he was having so much fun out there. So much he had to race to our natural pool to cool off after every surf. Like always I’ll let the photos do the talking.
