Early morning at the beach harbor in Nemberala is calm waiting for the daily catch from the fishing boats.

June waves were pumping and guests were as happy as it gets.

Awesome swells through June with waves varying in size daily keeping guests on their toes with up to two surfs a day most days. John snapped his favourite board and we were able to help him out with some new equipment to keep him styling in the water. Matt was out there most days on his Lightning Bolt Mark Richards single fin carving away and all the guests were having so much fun. Everything that makes surf trips what they are, good memories and funtimes.

Surfers need good food to keep their energy levels high.

Lualemba Bungalows include all the meals with the price of the accommodation. Very few of the other accommodations in Rote can’t be bothered to go the extra effort of providing good healthy meals for their guests.

For a number of reasons Lualemba Bungalows provide three healthy energy boosting meals. Breakfast gets you through the day especially if you need the energy to surf at least a couple times throughout the day. Breakfast includes tea or coffee, fresh fruit salad and a choice from the breakfast menu whether it is your favorite egg dish or Maria’s famous banana pancakes.

Lunch is available from 11.00 am through to 3.30 in the afternoon from a huge selection of western and Indonesian dishes to choose from. Again guests are probably going to be using more energy levels than they normally do at home. So a good lunch will top up them energy levels for that afternoon surf.

Dinner is a meal that really impress the guests with a good selection of vegetables and a meat dish cooked with a surprise of herbs a spices not over rich and hot but delicious and appetizing. Including dinner with your accommodation means you don’t need to go out into the dark searching for a decent meal waiting around for your order and returning hours later. By rule guests quite often retire to their bungalows by 8.00 pm to sleep as they are exhausted from daily activities, still on east coast Australia time frame or are eager to attack the waves again early the next morning.

Lualemba Bungalow meals are just one of the reasons why our faithful guests keep coming back year after year.

Business as usual.

Yeah we are rockin at Lualemba bungalows not only do we have meals covered for guests and a quiet and cool place to hang out after a surf yet close to all that is required for proximity to go surfing and central to all one needs in Rote. Our private location is a comfortable distances away from the hassle and bussle of the main arena of accommodations huddled together giving Lualemba Bungalows a unique atmosphere that nobody else competes to us. Not only all that we have a well managed boat system to get you out to the main break at Tland for surfing. The boat ladder is an ease for that worn out body with rubber arms to hop back into the boat. Our captains keep a watchful eye on you at the mooring ready for pickup and help for equipment failure or injury. The boat works exclusively for picking up and dropping Lualemba guest to go surfing.

Traditional Rotenese culture

Rote hats are unique to Indonesia with the locally woven ikats that have its own rotenese pattern that looks amazing on the women when they do their dance orchestrated by the men playing sasando, traditional drums and dongs. Lontar syrup, moki and sopi made from the lontar palm sei babi plus a range of other fine foods makes Rote an amazing place to visit for its traditional culture. During June we stumbled on a horse race involving the local pride showing the talent of their tiny Timor horses. It was a great event to witness.
