Wet season is coming to an end here in Rote and the rain is abating the winds are swinging to the east bringing beautiful weather BUT we are waiting for swell. It’s coming in the next few days and weeks ahead. There have been massive changes for people entering Indonesia and it’s all good for those who are wanting to come back to Rote. We are almost ready for the 2022 season with a couple more touch ups in a week we will ready and eager for guests. People that left deposits for 2020 season we have great news for you and how to see you sometime during the year. Nemberala Rote is in the change of seasons. The sun has set and the stillness in the air has that eerie feeling of a cracking swell in the morning.
Lualemba dinner feasts
No fancy stuff on your plate to make the food look nice because you won’t have the room. We have solid healthy tucker that will give you the energy you need for the next day of surfing or exhilarating adventure for getting out and about Rote. Lualemba Bungalows are famous for it’s 3 meals included in the price of the accommodation. That’s why our guests keep coming back.
Early dry season waves with light offshore winds for most of the day opens a lot of surfing opportunities around rote and it’s outer islands.
Oe Mau reef Boa. Besialu reef (alias Tland), the Bombie. the Spit, Saku Namors, Oeseli reef, and outer island breaks like Dana Island or Doa island are all possible to be surfed throughout the day giving the right swells and wind conditions during the early dry season months. Huey has dished out some remarkable sessions during these times that stay in your memory bank for a lifetime.
Entering Indonesia is getting easier every week
Yes finally Indonesia has deleted quarantine and compulsory expensive hotels waiting for multiple PCR tests when entering the country if you are vaccinated twice. As I read it it for the moment is a PCR test 24 hours before you leave the country coming into Indonesia. Another PCR test at the airport that you enter Indonesia. I think you have to pre book a hotel or have a residents that will pick you up at the airport directly to them premises until you have been notified that you have a negative result. If positive you can you must isolate yourself at an isolation hotel for 5 days where another PCR test is conducted. If negative you are free to do whatever. PCR costs RP 275,000 at the airport. Covid insurance is required entering Indonesia cost RP 500,000 at the airport and you download the PEDULI LINDUNGI APP which you can do at the airport when arriving into Indonesia. This APP lets you give your vaccination details and customs declaration details that you would normally fill out on the plane. That’s all now electronic with this APP. Apparently when you land it is all well organized with helpful staff to make it as smoothly as Indonesian style which I image as kaios with a little bit of don’t get impatient or we will make it more difficult reaction. My advice is get off the plane PRETEND you’re stoned and just go with the flow.
Domestic flights around Indonesia you don’t need further PCR tests when travelling and flights to Kupang and Rote are now pretty much the same as they were 2019.
Indonesia now has Visa On Arrival at all International airports RP 500,000 for 30 days. Word is out that soon all this PCR bullshit will not exists pretty soon. Omicron variant has gone through out Indonesia like wildfire as expected including Rote and personally I would be more worried about getting run over by a truck driven by aliens.
